Acrylic Paintings

Shown here is a collection of my acrylic paintings created throughout my foundation and first year of study at BSU. These surreal paintings explore the visual narrative surrounding a skeletal caricature, purposefully devoid of any definitive features of race, gender or age as to allow the viewer to project themselves or any other being into the scenes I have created. I began my artistic career at a major turning point in my life, having been struggling with my mental health. I turned to art and primarily painting as a means of escapism - allowing myself to travel through these incomprehensibly beautiful dreamscapes whilst immersing myself inside of the minute details of my almost illustrative painting application techniques. Prior to the creation of these acrylic paintings, I had considered myself more inclined with drawing, aiming to “draw with paint” within these works, creating bold forms and vibrant contrasts, with the scale of my works being reminiscent of the intimacy provided when handling a sketchbook.
